SYMPTOMS
When you open or publish a Web in Microsoft FrontPage 98, you may receive the following error message:
When you click Details, you receive the following additional information:
CAUSE
This problem may occur if FrontPage cannot access the server through the FrontPage Server Extensions.
The FrontPage Server Extensions are a set of programs that are installed on the Web Server. They support authoring and administering FrontPage webs and provide browse-time functionality.
RESOLUTION
Make sure that the FrontPage Server Extensions are installed on the Web server. To do this, follow these steps:
In Windows 95/98 and Windows NT 4.0
- On the Windows Start menu, point to Find, and then click Files Or Folders.
- In the Name box, type Fpsrvwin.exe. In the Look In box, select the drive where you installed FrontPage. Click Find Now.
- When the search results appear, double-click the Fpsrvwin.exe file. FrontPage Server Administrator will start.
- When the FrontPage Server Administrator appears, check the server type and the version numbers of the installed FrontPage Server Extensions.
In Windows 2000
- On the Windows Start menu, point to Settings, and click Control Panel.
- Double-click Administrative Tools.
- Double-click Internet Service Manager.
- Click the plus sign to expand the list for the computer on in the left pane.
- Right-click Default Web Site, click Properties, and click the Server Extensions tab.
If the web server does not have FrontPage extensions installed, you will see the following message:
