SYMPTOMS

When you try to view a Web page, you may receive the following error message:

An error has occurred in the script on this page. The script operation has been canceled.

Microsoft Jscript runtime error

[Line: <number>] <jscript name> is undefined.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if the User Agent string is missing from the HKEY_CURRENT_USER registry branch.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, upgrade to Microsoft Internet Explorer version 4.01. For information about how to install Internet Explorer 4.01, please see the following article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
