SYMPTOMS

When you create a Web page with a one-line text box form field in FrontPage Express and place restrictions on the value that can be typed in the text box, the restrictions may not appear to take effect.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if you specify invalid data values in the Text Box Validation settings. For example, if you specify that the data value must be greater than or equal to 15 and less than or equal to 10, no restrictions are placed on the value that can be typed in the text box.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, follow these steps:

  1. In FrontPage Express, right-click the one-line text box, and then click Form Field Properties on the menu that appears.
  2. Click Validate.
  3. Under Data Value, verify that the requirements are valid.
  4. Click OK, and then click OK again.

MORE INFORMATION

You can use the Text Box Validation settings to set field validation rules for one-line text box form fields. If you specify invalid data values, the validation rules are not applied and you receive no error message that the data values are invalid.
