Cannot Play in Internet Gaming Zone Using MSN Program Viewer

The information in this article applies to:

  • The Microsoft Network, version 2.5
  • Microsoft Internet Explorer version 3.02 for Windows 95

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to play a game in the Internet Gaming Zone using MSN, The Microsoft Network, Program Viewer, Microsoft Internet Explorer may open the Web page C:\Windows\System\Blank.htm. When you close Internet Explorer you may receive one or both of the following error messages:

  • Microsoft VBScript runtime error

    In frame: List

    [Line: 88] Object doesn't support this property or method: 'window.open'

  • This page contains a script which is taking an unusually long time to

finish. To end this script now, click Cancel.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, use one of the following methods:

Method 1

Log on to the Internet Gaming Zone (http://www.zone.com) using Internet Explorer instead of Program Viewer.

Method 2

Obtain Internet Explorer 4.0 from the following Microsoft Web site:

   http://www.microsoft.com/ie/download

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in The Microsoft Network version 2.5. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
