BUG: ODBC Fails to Obtain the Return Parameter of a Stored Procedure
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft SQL Server version 6.5
- Microsoft Open Database Connectivity, versions 2.5, 3.0
BUG #: 16972
The Open Data Services ODBC application fails to obtain the return parameter of a stored procedure through the Gateway Open Data Services sample application.
Due to an invalid Tabular Data Stream (TDS) packet, the ODBC driver cannot process all TDS results from the gateway application.
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in SQL Server version 6.5 and Open Database Connectivity versions 2.5 and 3.0.
A supported fix is now available, but has not been fully regression- tested and should be applied only to systems experiencing this specific problem. Unless you are severely impacted by this specific problem, Microsoft recommends that you wait for the next Service Pack that contains this fix.
