SYMPTOMS
The Query Definitions Differ dialog box displays the following error when the user fails to fully delimit parameters in their SQL test:
CAUSE
The Query Designer cannot always guess what your intentions are when you start a parameter without terminating it in your SQL text.
RESOLUTION
Go back into the SQL text and correctly delimit the parameter value for the query.
STATUS
This behavior is by design.
MORE INFORMATION
Steps to Reproduce Behavior
Activate the property page, go to the Parameters page and use % for the prefix and suffix characters for parameters. Type into the SQL pane, the following query:
SELECT stor_id FROM stores WHERE %city = CA
Click into the Results pane. The Query Designer displays the Query Definitions Differ dialog box and click OK. The Query Designer shows the resulting statement in the SQL pane:
SELECT stor_id FROM stores WHERE %city = CA%
You can fix the query by modifying the text to read:
SELECT stor_id FROM stores WHERE city = %CA%
