SYMPTOMS
In Microsoft Project 98, when you click the File menu, you may receive one of the following error messages.
Windows 95
If you click Details, you receive an error message similar to the following
Windows NT
CAUSE
The entry that is placed on the recently used file list is not properly truncated. This problem occurs when you save or open a database by using an ODBC Data Source and you select the Selected Data option and an Import or Export Map.
NOTE: The recently used file list appears at the bottom of the File menu. It lists the recently opened files.
WORKAROUND
To work around this behavior, use either of the following methods.
Method 1: Add a Back Slash Character to the Import/Export Map name
Type a back slash (\) character at the beginning of the Import or Export Map name that you use for Selected Data so that it looks similar to the following:
\My Example Data Map
Method 2: Turn Off the Recently Used File List
Turn off the Recently Used File List by following these steps:
- On the Tools menu, click Options.
- Click the General tab.
- Click to clear the Recently Used File List check box.
- Click OK.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the versions of Microsoft Project listed above.
