SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to increase the height of a Callout AutoShape, the AutoShape moves up or down on the page and its height is not increased. This behavior does not occur when you attempt to increase its width.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because the "Resize AutoShape to fit text" option is selected. When this option is selected, you can increase the height of the AutoShape only by entering text in the callout.

RESOLUTION

To resize the AutoShape by dragging a resizing handle, turn off the "Resize AutoShape to fit text" option, following these steps:

  1. Select the AutoShape.
  2. On the Format menu, click AutoShape.
  3. Click the Text Box tab.
  4. Click to clear the "Resize AutoShape to fit text" check box.
  5. Click OK.

You can now increase the height of the callout by dragging a resizing handle.
