Visual Basic Script Error Message After Connecting to MSN

SYMPTOMS

After you connect to MSN, The Microsoft Network, you may receive a Visual Basic script error message and you may not be able to access On Stage or other MSN sites.

CAUSE

Your MSN security settings may need to be changed.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, correct your MSN security settings. To do so, follow these steps:

  1. Click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and then double- click Internet.
  2. Click the Security tab.
  3. Under Active Content, click all of the check boxes to select them.
  4. Click Safety Level, click High, and then click OK.
  5. Click the Advanced Tab.
  6. Under Warnings, click all of the check boxes to select them, and then click OK.
  7. Restart your computer.
  8. Test to determine if the issue is resolved by connecting to MSN. If the issue still occurs, continue to the next step. If the issue is resolved, skip the remaining steps.
  9. Click Start, point to Find, and then click Files Or Folders.
  10. In the named box, type "mailctl.ocx" (without quotation marks), and then click Find Now. When the file is found, right-click the file, and then click Rename. Rename the file to Mailctl.old.
  11. In the named box, type "postman.exe" (without quotation marks), and then click Find Now. When the file is found, right-click the file, and then click Rename. Rename the file to Postman.old.
  12. Restart your computer.
