SYMPTOMS

When you receive e-mail in Microsoft Outlook 97 using the Outlook support for Lotus cc:Mail, German umlauts characters appearing in the Subject line of e-mail messages do not display correctly.

CAUSE

Lotus has confirmed that a bug in the Vendor Independent Messaging(VIM) file, version 6.02.01.4, causes the problem.

RESOLUTION

Lotus will fix this in a future release of VIM. Until it is available, use version 6.02.00.15 of VIM. This is available for download at the Lotus Web site at:

MORE INFORMATION

Microsoft has not tested the workaround supplied by Transend Corporation and therefore cannot guarantee its results.
