SMS: Some SNMP Severity Levels Only Show Success

ID: Q173855

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Systems Management Server version 1.2

For some (but not all) Windows NT Event sources, all Severity values show as Success in the Systems Management Server Event to Trap Translator, even though they should appear as Warning, Error, or Informational.

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Systems Management Server version 1.2. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.

For more information about how the Severity is included in the specific Trap ID, see the Microsoft BackOffice Resource Kit I Supplement to the Systems Management Server Resource Guide, page 45.
