The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Money 99
  • == Microsoft Money 98 ==

SUMMARY

During the setup of Microsoft Money, Microsoft Internet Explorer will be installed unless a newer version of Internet Explorer is already present on the computer. Money 98 installs Internet Explorer 3.02 whereas Money 99 installs Internet Explorer 4.01.

You cannot stop the installation or choose to exclude the installation. This is by design. Money requires the version of Microsoft Internet Explorer that includes 128-bit security for proper functioning.

MORE INFORMATION

To connect over the Internet with secure sites, the 128-bit version of the Schannel file is required. Installing Microsoft Internet Explorer ensures that a 40-bit version is properly upgraded to use the correct security level.
