SUMMARY

This procedure offers a method for adding thickness to a model before applying the Explode effect.

  1. Duplicate your original model and scale it down so that the duplicate model fits inside the original model.
  2. Merge the two models into one object by choosing Draw->PolySkin. The resulting model has a thick surface.
  3. Now apply the Polygon->Breakup command and then Effects->Explode.

The resultant model explodes and subdivides into thicker fragments.
