SUMMARY
This procedure offers a method for adding thickness to a model before applying the Explode effect.
- Duplicate your original model and scale it down so that the duplicate model fits inside the original model.
- Merge the two models into one object by choosing Draw->PolySkin. The resulting model has a thick surface.
- Now apply the Polygon->Breakup command and then Effects->Explode.
The resultant model explodes and subdivides into thicker fragments.
