SYMPTOMS

With Microsoft Outlook 97 AutoSignature, when you apply bold formatting to text in the TrueType font Bookman Old Style, the bold formatting is not applied.

CAUSE

The font weight description of Bookman Old Style Bold is 600. The typical font weight description for other bold fonts is 700. When the font style value comparison is made internally, the Bookman Old Style bold value does not meet the requirements of other bold fonts, and the bold font style is not applied to the text.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Outlook 97. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
