SUMMARY

This article is provided to explain how Latitude and Longitude (North, South, East and West) settings, in the Sun Position dialog box, relate to xyz 3D space.

To access the Sun Position dialog box, activate the Sun option in the Light dialog box and then click Position. The Latitude and Longitude settings allow you to define the position (North, South, East and West) of the sun in the sky. In addition to the value that you enter, you must also include the letter that corresponds to the position (N, S, E, W) where you wish the sun to reside.

The following shows how the sun’s location translates in xyz space. Use the following table to determine what “position” letter you require:

3D Space Sun’s Position

-Z North (N) +Z South (S) +X East (E) -X West (W)

The Y represents the angle in the sky.

The effect of these settings, on your model, is not evident until it is rendered.
