SYMPTOMS
In Microsoft Query 97, the Choose Data Source dialog box displays only File Data Source Names (DSNs).
STATUS
This behavior is by design of Microsoft Query 97 for Windows.
This behavior has changed in Microsoft Query 97 that is installed with Microsoft Office 97 Service Release 2 (SR-2).

System and User DSNs appear in the Choose Data Source dialog box with asterisks (*). For example, a System or User DSN named My Data Source, appears as follows in the Choose Data Source dialog box:

If your System and User DSNs are not visible in the Choose Data Source dialog box, follow these steps to make them visible:
- Click Options in the Choose Data Source dialog box.
- Click to select the "Include Registry DSNs in list of available databases" check box, and then click OK.
