SYMPTOMS

If you have a hyperlink in an HTML document that links to a Microsoft Excel workbook, the hyperlink may fail to work, or if it does work, your workbook may be opened in a separate window instead of within your browser.

CAUSE

You may experience the above behavior if you do the following:

  • Click a hyperlink in an HTML document that opens a Microsoft Excel workbook within the browser window. -and-


  • Click the Back button in your browser to return to the HTML document with the hyperlink. -and-


  • Click the hyperlink again to display your workbook.


STATUS

This problem was corrected in Microsoft Excel 97 for Windows, Service Release 1 (SR-1). This problem no longer occurs in Microsoft Excel 2000.
