SYMPTOMS
In Money 98, when you are calling the Branding Directory Server (BDS) you may receive the following error message:
An unexpected error has occurred while searching for your financial institution, The server may be down or busy. Try your search again by clicking on Investigate Offerings.
CAUSE
This can occur for one of the following reasons:
- The Branding Directory Server is currently down or very busy.
- Money received a response from the server that it did not understand.
- Invalid characters have been entered into the bank name.
RESOLUTION
If you suspect that the problem was caused by either of the first two reasons, try your call to the Branding Directory Server again later. Otherwise verify the correct bank name has been entered using valid characters.
MORE INFORMATION
The following characters are considered invalid when entered alone. If they are entered in addition to other words the error message does not appear:
