SUMMARY

This shows you how to make the camera visible each time you launch Softimage 3D. To do this, complete the following setup that is saved inside the scene file (.dsc):

  1. Start SOFTIMAGE 3D.

  2. Choose Camera->Show Camera.

  3. Save the empty scene.

  4. Each time you start Softimage 3D use the following command, or change your alias to the following:

    Soft -f rsrcpath -d DATABASE -L cameravisiblescene

    Where: rsrcpath is the path to $SI_LOCATION/3D/rsrc DATABASE is the name of the database where you save your dummy scene cameravisiblescene is you dummy scene (without the .x-0.dsc)

With this setting active, you sacrifice a discernible reduction in the refresh performance speed for heavy scenes. This is because, when the camera is moving or changing and also visible, any other active views must also be re-drawn.
