How to Uninstall The Microsoft Network Version 2.5

SUMMARY

This article describes how to uninstall MSN, The Microsoft Network, from your computer.

To uninstall MSN, use the following steps:

  1. Click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and then double- click Add/Remove Programs.
  2. On the Install/Uninstall tab, click any of the following entries, and then click Add/Remove:

          Connection Manager
          Interactive Music
          MSN Optional Controls
          MSN v2.5
          VoxWare VoxPlay Audio Control
  3. Click Yes when you are prompted to delete the component's files.
  4. Repeat steps 2-3 to remove every program component.

    Note that you must also remove any MSN components that you have installed that do not appear on the list above.

    The MSN Setup program may also install any of the following programs. Repeat steps 2-3 if you want to uninstall any of these programs:

          Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.02
          Microsoft Internet Mail and News 1.0
          Microsoft ActiveMovie
          Microsoft Chat 2.0
          Microsoft NetMeeting 2.0
  5. On the Windows Setup tab, click the The Microsoft Network check box to clear it, and then click OK.
  6. Click Start, point to Programs, and then click Windows Explorer.
  7. Right-click the Program Files\OnMSN folder, and then click Delete.
  8. Close Windows Explorer.
  9. Click Start, point to Programs, point to Accessories, and then click Dial-Up Networking.
  10. Right-click any of the following Dial-Up Networking connections, and then click Delete:

          MSN
          MSN Backup (for advanced use only)
          The Microsoft Network
          The Microsoft Network (Backup)
  11. Repeat step 10 for each of the connections listed above.
  12. Close the Dial-Up Networking window.
  13. On the desktop, right-click the MSN E-Mail icon, and then click Delete.
  14. Restart the computer.
