SYMPTOMS

When attempting to use Microsoft Word to edit e-mail messages in Microsoft Outlook, you may receive the following error message:

Word is either busy or cannot be found.

Other OLE functions may not be affected.

CAUSE

One cause for this error is the use of an "@" character in the name of the computer.

RESOLUTION

Remove the @ character from the name of the computer.

To Change Your Computer's Name

  1. Click Start, point to Settings and click Control Panel. Double-click the Network icon.
  2. On the Identification tab, change the name in the Computer Name box so that it does not contain the @ character.
  3. Click OK.
