XL97: Data Returned from Only One Table Using Query Wizard

SYMPTOMS

When you use Microsoft Query to return data from more that one table in a database, only data from the first table is returned to your Microsoft Excel worksheet.

CAUSE

This problem occurs when the following conditions are true:

  • Two or more of the tables included in your query have the same name. -and-


  • The tables with the same name have been defined with different owners in the database. -and-


  • You are using the Query Wizard to build your query.


RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain Microsoft Office 97 Service Release 2 (SR-2).

To work around the problem temporarily, click to clear the "Use the Query wizard to create/edit queries" check box in the Choose Data Source dialog box.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Query 97 for Windows. This problem was corrected in Microsoft Office 97 Service Release 2 (SR-2).
