InocuLAN Filter Driver Causes STOP 0x00000024

Last reviewed: September 17, 1997
Article ID: Q172798

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Windows NT Workstation version 4.0
  • Microsoft Windows NT Server version 4.0

SYMPTOMS

Computers running Windows NT 4.0 and Computer Associate's InocuLAN version 4.0 for Windows NT may experience the following blue screen error message:

   STOP 0x00000024 (0x001901f9, 0xf20d71ac, 0xf20d6fe8, 0x80106e9d)
   NTFS_FILE_SYSTEM

NOTE: The computer that exhibited this problem was running Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 2 and InocuLAN 4.0 build 241.

CAUSE

InocuLAN intercepts a file's I/O Request Packet (IRP). NTFS then detects a problem performing the requested operation. NTFS aborts the I/O request with the error status it gets back from the exception code. NTFS chooses to bugcheck the system rather than handling the exception.

RESOLUTION

Customers effected by this problem should upgrade to latest release of InocuLAN 4.0 for Windows NT, build 260, Service Pack 1.
