MSN and Internet Desktop Icons Do Not Respond

The information in this article applies to:
- The Microsoft Network version 2.0
SYMPTOMS
When you double-click the MSN or the Internet icon on the desktop, your computer may not attempt to connect to MSN, The Microsoft Network.
CAUSE
This behavior can occur for either of the following reasons:
- Your dialing properties are not set to connect to the Internet as needed.
- You are connecting to MSN or the Internet using a proxy server.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, follow these steps:
- In Control Panel, double-click Internet.
- On the Connection tab, click the "Connect to the Internet as needed" check box to select it.
- In the "Use the following Dial-Up Networking connection" box, click The Microsoft Network.
- Click the Connect Through A Proxy Server check box to clear it, and then click OK.
