The Mediatrix Audiotrix Pro sound card uses the Crystal 4231 audio chipset.

To install the Mediatrix Audiotrix Pro sound card, run the Install Wizard from the Mediatrix installation disk and then restart the computer.

Add or update Mediatrix Audiotrix Pro drivers

To add or update the Mediatrix Audiotrix Pro drivers, use the appropriate steps below for your version of Windows:

Windows 95

  1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Double-click Add New Hardware.
  3. Click Next.
  4. Click No, and then click Next.
  5. Click Sound, Video And Game Controllers, click Next, and then click Have Disk.
  6. Type the path to the location of the updated driver files, and then click OK.
  7. Click the Mediatrix Audiotrix Pro sound card, and then click OK.
  8. Click Next.
  9. Click Finish. If you are prompted to restart the computer, click Yes.

Windows 98

  1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Double-click Add New Hardware.
  3. Click Next, click Next, and then click No, I want to select the hardware from a list.
  4. Click Next, click Sound, Video And Game Controllers, and then click Next.
  5. Click Have Disk.
  6. Type the path to the location of the updated driver files, and then click OK.
  7. Click the Mediatrix Audiotrix Pro sound card, and then click OK.
  8. Click Next.
  9. Click Finish. If you are prompted to restart the computer, click Yes.

Configure Mediatrix Audiotrix Pro for SideWinder Force Feedback

To configure the Mediatrix Audiotrix Pro drivers, use the following steps:

  1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Double-click System.
  3. On the Device Manager tab, double-click Sound, Video And Game Controllers.
  4. Click AudioTrix Pro Sound Card, and then click Properties.
  5. On the Resources tab, click the Use Automatic Settings check box to select it.
  6. Click OK or Close until you return to Windows. If you are prompted to restart the computer, click No.

Add Gameport Joystick device

To add the Gameport Joystick device, use the appropriate steps below for your version of Windows:

Windows 95

  1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Double-click Add New Hardware, click Next, click No, and then click Next.
  3. In the Hardware Types box, click Sound, Video, And Game Controllers, and then click Next.
  4. In the Manufacturers box, click Microsoft. In the Models box, click Gameport Joystick, and then click Next.
  5. Click Next, and then click Finish.
  6. If you are prompted to restart the computer, click Yes.

Windows 98

  1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Double-click Add New Hardware.
  3. Click Next, click Next, click No, I want to select the hardware from a list, and then click Next.
  4. In the Hardware Types box, click Sound, Video, And Game Controllers, and then click Next.
  5. In the Manufacturers box, click Microsoft. In the Models box, click Gameport Joystick, and then click Next.
  6. Click Next, and then click Finish.
  7. If you are prompted to restart the computer, do so.

To ensure that the game port and the MPU-401 port are both enabled, run the Setuppro.exe file from the Mediatrix installation disk and then restart the computer.

This sound card requires the serial adapter to work with the Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback Pro. This card may not work with Microsoft ActiMates characters or the ActiMates PC Pack.
