Microsoft ActiMates characters do not run on any sound card based on the ESS 688 chipset. This chipset does not support simultaneous wave and external MIDI needed by ActiMates products. Other ESS chipsets should generally work properly with ActiMates products.

The SideWinder Force Feedback Pro WILL work with sound cards based on the ESS 688 chipset.
