Find File Command Still Available When NoFind Policy Is Used

  • Microsoft Windows 95





SYMPTOMS

If the Remove The Find Command system policy option is enabled, users may still be able to access the Find command by performing any of the following actions:

  • If a Windows keyboard (such as a Microsoft Natural Keyboard) is used, pressing Windows+F may open the Find Files window.
  • If a Windows keyboard (such as a Microsoft Natural Keyboard) is used, pressing CTRL+Windows+F may open the Find Computer window.
  • When any Windows Explorer window is open, pressing F3 may open the Find Files window.



RESOLUTION

This issue is resolved by the following updated file for Windows 95, and later versions of this file:

   EXPLORER.EXE  version 4.00.952  dated 5/15/97  211,968 bytes 







STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Windows 95. An update to address this problem is now available, but is not fully regression tested and should be applied only to computers experiencing this specific problem. Unless you are severely impacted by this specific problem, Microsoft does not recommend implementing this update at this time. Contact Microsoft Technical Support for additional information about the availability of this update.

This issue is resolved in Microsoft Windows 98.
