SUMMARY

This article describes how to configure the Crystal Lake Series 100 sound card for use with Microsoft ActiMates characters and the ActiMates PC Pack, or the SideWinder Force Feedback Pro joystick.

This information was tested with the following sound card driver:

Crystal Lake Series 100
Driver version tested: 1.2/DX 1.20
Date: 12-7-95

MORE INFORMATION

The driver settings for this sound card may need to be modified to run with the devices listed at the top of this article. For instructions on modifying these settings, please see the following article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

172724 ActiMates/SideWinder: Configuring Crystal Sound Cards

This is a Plug and Play sound card and Windows 95/98 should automatically install the correct drivers.

NOTE: Crystal Lake appears to no longer support hardware devices. Newer drivers must be obtained from your OEM.

If the computer fails to reboot, after installing this sound card, it may be causing a resource conflict. The sound card may attempt to install Audio Control Registers in Input/Output (I/O) address ranges reserved for system devices (this issue is more likely to occur with newer computers). It may be possible to reallocate these I/O address ranges in the system BIOS.

The third-party product discussed here is manufactured by a vendor independent of Microsoft; we make no warranty, implied or otherwise, regarding this product's performance or reliability.
