SYMPTOMS
When you attempt to connect to MSN, The Microsoft Network, you may receive the following error message:
Guide.exe caused an invalid page fault in module Mpccl.dll.
CAUSE
The Guide.exe or Mpccl.dll file may be damaged.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, run the Newcore.exe and Msn13.exe files from the MSN 2.0 CD-ROM. To do so, follow these steps:
- Insert the MSN 2.0 CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive. If the Auto Insert Notification option is turned on, close the Welcome To MSN window that opens on the desktop.
- Double-click My Computer.
- Right-click the CD-ROM drive icon, and then click Explore.
- Double-click the Msnsetup folder.
- Double-click the Compnts folder.
- Double-click the Newcore.exe file.
- Double-click the Msn13.exe file.
- Follow the instructions on the screen. When you are prompted to restart the computer, click Yes.
