Windows 95 clients using the IPX/SPX-Compatible Protocol with the Winsock Proxy client observe web pages or graphic images that appear broken or incomplete.
CAUSE
Values for Maximum Connections and/or Maximum Sockets in the Windows 95 IPX/SPX-compatible Protocol Properties may be too low.
WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, modify the Windows 95 default values for Maximum Connections and Maximum Sockets using the following steps:
- In Control Panel, double-click Network.
- Click IPX/SPX-Compatible Protocol, and then click Properties.
- Click the Advanced tab.
- Click Maximum Connections in the Property box, click Value, and then type a value of 20 or more in the Value box.
- Click Maximum Sockets in the Property box, click Value, and then type a value of 40 or more in the Value box.
NOTE: Always keep the values entered for Maximum Connections and Maximum Sockets in a 1:2 ratio, for example, Maximum Connections=20, Maximum Sockets=40
- Click OK to close the IPX/SPX-compatible Protocol Properties dialog box, then click OK to close the Network dialog box.
- For the new values to take effect, you must reboot the computer.
