The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Internet Explorer version 4.0 for Windows 95
  • Microsoft Internet Explorer version 4.0 for Windows NT 4.0
  • Microsoft Visual J++, versions 1.0, 1.1
  • SDK for Java, version 2.0

SYMPTOMS

When you run Visual J++ in debugger mode using breakpoints after installing Internet Explorer 4.0 Platform Preview 2 on your computer, you may receive the following error message:

   One or more breakpoints cannot be set and have been disabled. Execution
   will stop at the beginning of the program.

CAUSE

The version of the Msjava.dll file included with Internet Explorer 4.0 Platform Preview 2 does not allow breakpoints to be set for Visual J++ in debugger mode.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, install the SDK for Java 2.0 Beta 2 to use the SDK for Java 2.0 Beta 2 version of the Msjava.dll file.

MORE INFORMATION

The Msjava.dll file included with Internet Explorer 4.0 Platform Preview 2, version 4.79.2174 does not allow breakpoints to be set. The Msjava.dll file included with the SDK for Java 2.0 Beta 2, version 4.79.2175 allows breakpoints to be set.
