SYMPTOMS

If you use PowerSoft's PowerBuilder application development system to create a program that interacts with Microsoft Excel 97, the program may not work correctly when you run it. You may encounter the one or more of the following problems:

  • Microsoft Excel 97 stops responding (hangs) when you start it or when you open a workbook.
  • You receive an application error or invalid page fault in EXCEL.EXE.


CAUSE

These problems may occur if you use version 5.0.02 or earlier of PowerBuilder.

RESOLUTION

In at least one case, these problems were corrected by downloading and installing PowerBuilder 5.0.03 from the PowerSoft Web site. To download this update to PowerBuilder, start your Web browser and go to the following address:
