SYMPTOMS

When printing a Kodak Custom Creation in Picture It!, you may receive the following error message:

Exception 10h in Piutil.dll

CAUSE

You may receive this error message when using the following printers:

  • Hewlett-Packard PhotoSmart Photo Printer
  • Hewlett-Packard DeskJet 690 Series
  • Hewlett-Packard DeskJet 870C


WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, use either of the following methods.

Method 1: Use a Different Printer

  1. Select a different printer before choosing the Just Add It command.
  2. Once you complete the creation, print to the selected printer.

Method 2: Do Not Use the .mix File Format

  1. Save the creation in a format other than .mix, for example .tif.


NOTE: You can disregard the error message: "Cannot Save All Changes." This means that the layers of the image are flattened; however, this is not a problem because you cannot edit the layers in a Custom Creation.

  1. Once you complete the creation, print to the selected printer.

Microsoft is researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.

MORE INFORMATION

Installing version 1.04 of the PhotoSmart printer driver does not correct this problem.
