The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Internet Explorer version 4.0 for Windows 95
- Microsoft Internet Explorer version 4.0 for Windows NT 4.0
SYMPTOMS
After you install Internet Explorer, it may not become your default Web browser.
CAUSE
This problem can occur if you install Internet Explorer on a Windows 95- based or Windows NT-based computer on which Windows 95 or Windows NT was originally installed by the computer's manufacturer using the OEM Preinstallation Kit.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Internet Explorer version 4.0. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
