Computer Hangs After Installing Internet Explorer 4.0

The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Internet Explorer version 4.0 for Windows 95
SYMPTOMS
When you restart your computer after installing Internet Explorer, your computer may stop responding (hang).
CAUSE
This problem is caused by the registry becoming too large for a Windows 95-based computer with 8 MB of RAM to open.
RESOLUTION
To work around this problem, temporarily install more RAM, and then uninstall Internet Explorer. After you have uninstalled Internet Explorer, you can remove the additional RAM.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Internet Explorer version 4.0. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
