The information in this article applies to:
- Softimage 3D for IRIX, versions 3.51, 3.7
- Softimage 3D for Windows NT, versions 3.51, 3.7
SUMMARY
If you are using PC-NFS or Samba to connect an NT machine to an IRIX machine (i.e. accessing databases), you may or may not see a directory, depending on how it is symbolically linked. The following shows two different ways of symbolically linking the same directory:
The following link "can" be seen from an NT machine:
/user/people/softimage/database/PICTURES -> ../PICTURES
While, this link "cannot" be seen:
/user/people/softimage/database/PICTURES -> /user/people/softimage/PICTURES
If you are unable to see a directory, change the way that you are creating your symbolical links.
