SYMPTOMS
The Resource Assignment dialog box will not appear in another application if this dialog box is already being displayed in Microsoft Project. For example, if you insert a Microsoft Project object into a Microsoft Excel worksheet, and you click the Assign Resources button on the Standard toolbar or point to Resources on the Tools menu and then click Assign Resources, the Resource Assignment dialog box will not appear if it is already being displayed in Microsoft Project.
WORKAROUND
Switch to Microsoft Project and close the Resource Assignment dialog box before you attempt to assign a resource in the other application.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the versions of Microsoft Project listed above.
