Article ID: 170608

Article Last Modified on 1/20/2007

APPLIES TO

This article was previously published under Q170608

SYMPTOMS

When you use Microsoft Outlook 97 with the Internet Mail service and you connect to your e-mail server using Remote Mail, if you mark multiple message headers for retrieval, Outlook may appear to hang.

CAUSE

This involves a combination of the speed of the e-mail server and Outlook's communication with it. If you select, then mark to retrieve many headers (approximately 100 or more), the process may take longer than expected.

RESOLUTION

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Outlook 97. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.

REFERENCES

For more information about Remote Mail and message headers, type "Remote Mail" in the Office Assistant, click Search, and then click to view "Use Remote Mail."
