SUMMARY

This article describes how to export contacts from Microsoft Outlook and then import these files as Pushpins for use in Microsoft Automap Streets Plus and Microsoft Automap Trip Planner.

MORE INFORMATION

To export contacts from Microsoft Outlook, do the following:

  1. On the File menu in Outlook Contacts, click Import And Export.

  2. The Import and Export Wizard starts. Click Export To A File, and then click Next.

  3. Click the folder you want to export, and then click Next.

  4. Select Tab Separated Values (Windows), and then click Next.

  5. Type the name of the file you want to export, and then click Next.

  6. Click Map Custom Fields, and then remove the following fields by dragging the entry from the right pane to the left pane:

    Title First Name Middle Name Suffix Notes

    NOTE: You can remove any other fields that you do not need at this time, leaving only Name, Address, and City.

  7. Add the Name field by dragging the entry from the left pane to the right pane.

  8. Click OK, and then click Finish.

The exported file is saved by default into the Windows folder.

Importing the File

To import this file into Automap Streets Plus or Trip Planner, do the following:

  1. At the Home screen in Automap Streets Plus, click Import Pushpins From Text File.

    -or-

    On the Tools in Automap Streets Plus or Trip Planner menu point to Pushpins, and then click Import Text File.

  2. Locate the exported contacts file, and then click Open.

  3. Select the Pushpin Type, Pushpin Symbol, and Pushpin Set, and then click Next.

  4. In the Separator section, click Tab, click Skip The First Row, and then click Next.

  5. Select the appropriate category for each field, and then click Next.

  6. Click Next, and then click Finish.

  7. Resolve any ambiguous addresses using one of the following methods:

    • Click the correct address from the list of matches.

      -or-

    • Click Skip to skip the entry.

      -or

    • Click Automatic to select the best match as determined by the application.

NOTE: Automap limits contact to 1000 per imported file. You may need to break the original file into parts if you have more than 1000 contacts in the Outlook Contacts file.
