Last reviewed: June 20, 1997
Article ID: Q170183
The information in this article applies to:
- Softimage 3D for IRIX, versions 3.51, 3.7
SYMPTOMS
After installing SOFTIMAGE 3D, when you try to start it, the following error message appears:
"Cannot open SOFTIMAGE font (invalid argument) Cannot open SOFTIMAGE font (no such file directory)"
CAUSE
This message is issued at start-up time when system fonts are not found, or if you do not have the permissions to read them.
The environment variable SI_LOCATION, which is set in the .softimage file, may not be pointing to the correct location (default is /usr/softimage).
RESOLUTION
Check if, under $SI_LOCATION/3D/rsrc, you have access to the following fonts:
Softimage.fnt Softimage15.fnt Softlogo.fnt
Make sure that the environment variable, SI_LOCATION, is pointing to the correct location (default is /usr/softimage). To see where it is pointing, in a shell type: echo $SI_LOCATION.
