Last reviewed: June 20, 1997
Article ID: Q170179

The information in this article applies to:

  • Softimage 3D for Windows NT, version 3.51

SUMMARY

Does SOFTIMAGE 3D exploit the advantages of the Pentium MMX chip? (The MMX chip is supposed to make interactive applications run faster.)

MORE INFORMATION

The Pentium MMX chip (MultiMedia extension) includes 57 new instructions all related to multimedia applications (mostly games with video, sound, etc.). Some multimedia applications are now designed to take advantage of the new instructions that the MMX chip offers. Unfortunately, SOFTIMAGE 3D is not a multimedia application, and is not designed to take advantage of the MMX chip.
