SYMPTOMS
When you install or start Microsoft FrontPage 97 for Windows you receive the following error:
If you are running Microsoft Windows NT, a Dr. Watson error log is generated.
NOTE: You may also receive other similar error messages regarding the Fp20tl.dll file.
CAUSE
This error occurs if the system clock on your computer is set to a date of January 19, 2038 or later.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem use the appropriate method to reset the system clock so that the date occurs before January 19, 2038:
Method 1. Use the Date & Time Control Panel
- On the start menu, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
- Double-click the Date/Time icon.
- Click the Date & Time tab.
- Type the new date. Click OK.
Method 2. Change the Date at the Command Prompt
Windows NT:
- On the Start menu, point to Programs, point to Accessories, and then click Command Prompt.
- At the command prompt, type the following, and then press ENTER:
DATE
- Type the new date and then press ENTER.
- Type EXIT and then press ENTER.
Windows 95:
- On the Start menu, point to Programs, and then click MS-DOS Prompt.
- At the MS-DOS prompt, type the following and then press ENTER:
DATE
- Type the new date and then press ENTER.
- Type EXIT and then press ENTER.
Method 3. Change the Date in the CMOS Setup for Your Computer
- If you installed FrontPage, rerun the FrontPage Setup program and click Remove All.
- Restart your computer and go into the CMOS setup. Change the date setting.
NOTE: This process varies with each manufacturer's computer system, so check your hardware document for specific instructions on how to modify the CMOS setup for your computer.
- Save your changes and then exit the CMOS setup.
Your computer will reboot.
- Reinstall FrontPage.
STATUS
This problem has been corrected in Microsoft FrontPage 98 for Windows.
