INFO: Printer Driver Must Support Multiple DCs |
Q169595
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Win32 Device Driver Kit (DDK) Windows 95
SUMMARY
In earlier versions of Windows, printer drivers were allowed to return -1 from the SetPrinterDC control code if they did not want to support multiple DCs for a print job. In Windows 95, however, there are applications that do not check the return code of the SetPrinterDC control code, and blindly use the DC they requested to be set in the printer driver.
MORE INFORMATION
Although not explicitly stated, printer drivers must not return -1 from SetPrinterDC. Instead, the driver must be able to handle multiple DCs and must use the DC that the application sends down for the print job. The driver must not restrict itself to one DC from StartDoc to EndDoc.
