The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Internet Explorer version 4.0 for Windows 95
  • Microsoft Internet Explorer version 4.0 for Windows NT 4.0

SYMPTOMS

The "Backup Information" folder (used to uninstall Internet Explorer 4.0) is created on the drive that contains Windows, regardless of where you choose to install Internet Explorer 4.0.

For example, if you have Windows installed in the C:\Windows folder and you choose to install Internet Explorer 4.0 in the "D:\Internet Explorer 4.0" folder, a "C:\Program Files\Backup Information" folder is created instead of a "D:\Internet Explorer 4.0\Backup Information" folder.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Internet Explorer 4.0 Platform Preview 1. This problem does not occur with Internet Explorer 4.0 Platform Preview 2. To obtain Internet Explorer 4.0 Platform Preview 2, visit the following Microsoft Web site:
