SYMPTOMS
When clicking an HTML link containing a "mailto:%22 tag with no delivery information, Microsoft Outlook 97 will insert a slash (/) in the To field of the e-mail message.
RESOLUTION
To open an Outlook e-mail message containing no delivery information from an HTML link, you must insert a null value in the HTML mailto: tag.
Insert a null value (%20) in the HTML "mailto:%22 tag as follows:
<a href="mailto:%20%22>SEND E-MAIL</a>

Steps to Reproduce Problem
In NotePad, create and save a file named Testmail.htm with the following HTML code:
<HTML> <HEAD> <TITLE>Test Mail</TITLE> </HEAD> <BODY> <a href="mailto:">SEND E-MAIL</a> </BODY> </HTML>
- Double-click the Testmail.htm file to open it in Microsoft Internet Explorer.
- Click the SEND E-MAIL link.
RESULT: A new e-mail message is opened in Outlook containing a slash (/) in the To field.
