SYMPTOMS
When you are installing a program by running a self-extracting, self- installing executable file created using Microsoft Internet Express, you may receive the following error message:
Insert Disk Please insert the disk labeled '<program>', and then click OK.
If you click OK, you receive the following error message
Insert Disk The file '<filename>' on <program> could not be found. Insert <program> into the drive selected below, and click OK. Copy files from: <TMP folder>\IXP<nnn>.TMP
where <filename> is the name of the file that cannot be found, <program> is the name of the program you are installing, <TMP folder> is the path to the folder specified by the SET TMP statement in your Autoexec.bat file, and <nnn> is a random number (usually 000).
If you click Details, you receive the following error message
Error Details The following error occurred: 'The path was not found' (error # 3). Setup could not finish opening a file on the source disk. Source file: '<TMP folder>\IXP<nnn>.TMP\<filename>' Destination file: '<path>=<filename>'

NOTE: This problem is known to occur with the products listed above; however, it may also occur with any other program that is installed using a self-extracting, self-installing executable file created using Microsoft Internet Express.
CAUSE
The TMP environment variable specified in the Autoexec.bat file is pointing to a folder with a long file name.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, follow these steps:
- Use any text editor (such as Notepad) to open the Autoexec.bat file.
Set the TMP environment variable to an existing folder that has a valid MS-DOS 8.3-compliant name. The characters that are valid for an 8.3-compliant folder name include any combination of letters (A-Z) and numbers (0-9), plus the following special characters:
$ % ' ` - @ { } ~ ! # ( ) & _ ^
- Save and then close the Autoexec.bat file.
- Restart your computer and try to install the program again.
