XFOR: French Version Does Not Support SSPI Authentication (DPA and NTLM)

Article ID: 164718

Article Last Modified on 11/7/2003

APPLIES TO

  • Microsoft Commercial Internet System 1.0 Service Pack 2

This article was previously published under Q164718

SYMPTOMS

Support for SSPI authentication (NTLM, DPA, and so forth) does not work in the French localized version of Microsoft Chat Server (server and client). The chat server and the client component chat sock has the "ISC_REQ_CONFIDENTIALITY" flag set when it attempts to load an SSPI module. This will fail under the French version of Windows NT (both server and client).

RESOLUTION

Both Chatsvc.dll and Chatsock.dll have been modified. To resolve this problem, apply Service Pack 1 (SP1) for MCIS to the ICS server(s). In addition, users (clients) who have the original version of Chatsock.dll will need to upgrade Chatsock.dll to the new version that is available with SP1 for MCIS.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Commercial Internet System version 1.0. This problem has been corrected in the latest U.S. Service Pack for Microsoft Commercial Internet System version 1.0.
