Fax Wizard Falsely Implies Completion of Faxing Process

SYMPTOMS

When you click the Send Fax Now button on the Fax Wizard toolbar, you receive the following message after the Wizard starts faxing your document:

The wizard has finished sending your document.

This message implies that your document has been faxed successfully; however, the fax process is not finished at this point.

CAUSE

When you click the Send Fax Now button, Word sends the document to your fax program. The fax program is responsible for rendering, delivering, and confirming that the fax is transmitted.

RESOLUTION

To complete the fax process, send the fax using your fax program.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Word 97 for Windows.
