256986 Description of the Microsoft Windows Registry

SUMMARY

Works 4.0 or 4.5 makes a Most Recently Used (MRU) file list available in various locations, such as the File menu and the Existing Documents tab in the Works Task Launcher. This list makes it easy to access the documents you have used most recently.

MORE INFORMATION

The list of file names under the File menu shows the last four documents opened. The Existing Documents tab of the Task Launcher contains the file names of the last eight documents opened. Works removes file names from these lists as you open new documents. For example, if you have four file names under the File menu and open another file, the fourth file name drops off the list. If you move, rename, or delete one of the documents on the list and then try to open it by selecting it from the list, Works displays the error message:

Cannot find the document <file name> Check the drive and directory

After you click OK, the file name is removed from the list of recently used files.

The (MRU) list can be disabled by editing the Microsoft Windows 95 Registry.

WARNING: If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that you can solve problems that result from using Registry Editor incorrectly. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.
