SYMPTOMS
When you format a paragraph to have a first line indent of any number greater than 0 (zero), or if you change a style to have this formatting, the first line formatting is not retained when you start a second paragraph.
Similarly, if you set a left or right paragraph indent, Word retains the indent formatting for one paragraph only; Word removes the indent formatting for the next paragraph.
Also, if you format a paragraph with bullets and/or numbering with hanging indents, the settings of the hanging indents will be lost when you start a second paragraph.
CAUSE
This problem occurs if Help For WordPerfect Users is selected.
RESOLUTION
Turn off WordPerfect Help with one of the following methods.
Method 1:
- From the Tools menu, choose Options.
- Select the General tab.
- Clear the Help For WordPerfect Users check box.
Method 2:
- On the status bar, double-click the letters WPH.
- Choose the Options button.
- Clear the Help For WordPerfect Users check box.
